This first book of the series wasn't all that long; therefore, the World Building wasn't as complete as I would have liked. What there was, though, seemed interesting. This was a sweet enough story that it resembled a YA (except for the sex scenes). It was very like a fairy tale, with even some magic thrown in.It was also the standard "Shifter Instant Mating Love" scenario. There wasn't, however, any actual Shifting for more than 3/4 of the book, which was a little disappointing for me. I was personally hoping that our Heroine would find her inner animal and shift, saving herself instead of letting the Hero save her.
Regardless of these minor complaints, I still enjoyed it. I liked the characters and the ending. The writing was good enough that it read easily, and the dialogue seemed natural. Because the story's villain is still at large, he can move the plot along in the next book with the other characters. 3-1/2 Stars for me.

This is the book you read when you want a grown-up fairy tale sexy and sweet, with just enough intrigue and action to make you feel like the characters earned their happy ending. There are little cartoon hearts floating around my head right now.

There is hot romance, action, mystery and everything in between along with a HOT bodyguard. This is a must read, this book packs a punch, I couldn't stop reading till I was done... Get it today!
Who doesn’t dream of being a princess? Signy thinks her life is dull, then when her grandfather sends for her, she finds out that her mother has hid her heritage from her since she was a little girl and her dad died. Signy is not only a princess but from Shifter blood. Kia is a royal Guardsman who was sent to accompany the found princess back to her Shifter Country. Guardsmen are not allowed private lives. What happens when a new princess means a Shifter male who can’t have a private life without the kings approval? What transpires is a sinister plot against the king that Signy has to solve to find her HEA.
This was an excellent book featuring an unaware American girl who turns out to be a princess for a European shifters country. Amazingly, she finds her mate among the Royal Guards. The g we t to the palace go find her grandfather,the king, ill and looking as if has been drug for the new royal princess had been a pharmacy assistant back in the states. Signee and Road, her guard and mate get together with the head of the Royal Guards to rescue the Royal King and and restore the king to rule. And, most of all, get the king 's blessing to wed becoming the crown Prince and Princess, Of course you have to throw in some bad guys, a master bad guy, along with shifters interrupt ing the Royal Ball. Well.as you can see, there is plenty of action and magic glossed in to keep you reading! Go for it! Enjoy!
Signy lives in America, when she discovers that she is the princess of an unknown country. She discovers that her father, who died when she was little was a prince. Now that all of her father's family is dead except for a grandfather, she is required to come rule the country. Oh yeah, and the country is all shifters, which she is not.
Kai is a bodyguard to the royalty. He has been trained all of his life. He knows it is against the rules to fall in love and be with any member of the royal house. But when he meets Signy he doesn't want to obey the rules anymore. The only problem is that someone is trying to kill or destroy every member of the family.
Can this couple ever be together?
I loved the intrigue and excitement that is written into this story. Makes me want to find my own bodyguard.
I picked up this book when I saw a fandom author I liked had written it, and let me tell you, I was not disappointed.
Signy and Kai were the perfect couple and the perfect characters - she was completely relatable (witness her struggles with her job at the beginning) and he was just awesome. Watching them navigate her family conflict, his family issues, and the rules of Valtyra was both fun and sweet. Also, Signy ultimately solving what was going on? Awesome. Even without powers, she had the knowledge to solve the problem - an excellent choice in a heroine. All in all, I just really liked this book.
In fact, I liked it so much I immediately bought the sequel. Which is not something I do often.
One minor quibble when they discuss Otto escaping and the plot against the throne. There's discussion that Nikolai also escaped. I did a search and Nikolai literally had not been mentioned before this moment. I figured out via context who he was, but...that didn't quite work for me.
Still, a great book, which absolutely deserves five stars.
Signy barely remembers the tales her birth father told her, forcing them to the back of her mind as to much to Bear. Enter Kai a Guardsman for her Grandfather ,the King of an island of shifters, somewhere near Denmark. He helps the creep of a Prime minister explain who she really is and once they are alone, he tells her they are true mates, which us a huge NO NO in the bid for who will be king. This is a really good love story, with intrigue,attempted murder and Signy using her past as a way to save her Grandfather. Great mix of hot sex, political machinations and a set up for book 2 !! No cliffhangers, but I recommend that readers be at least 18 due to sex and violence .4⭐'s I voluntarily chise to leave an honest and unbiased review.
